Kyle Cooper Arrested: 36-year-old Kyle Cooper charged in stabbing death of 27-year-old Daniel Gordon of Rock Falls, Illinois

Early Friday morning, a 27-year-old man was fatally stabbed at a residence, succumbing to injuries sustained in the attack.

Authorities have identified the victim as Daniel J. Gordon, 27, of Rock Falls, as announced in a media release from the Rock Falls Police Department. Gordon was transported by ambulance to CGH Medical Center, where he later died from his severe injuries.

The suspect in the case is 36-year-old Kyle M. Cooper, also of Rock Falls, who is now facing charges of aggravated battery, according to the same release. Cooper is being held at the Whiteside County Jail, with additional charges pending.

The incident unfolded around 1:50 a.m. on Friday when police were dispatched to a home located in the 600 block of West 20th Street in response to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered Gordon suffering from critical injuries.

Following the scene, the Rock Falls Police Department promptly launched an investigation, which quickly led to Cooper being identified as a suspect. Cooper was subsequently detained after arriving at the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office in Morrison, Illinois.

The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with multiple agencies, including the Sterling Police Department, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police troopers, ISP Crime Scene Services, and the Illinois State Police Department of Criminal Investigation.
