Michael Kelly Cranston, RI Obituary, Cause of Death: State of RI DOT Highway Maintenance Operator Michael Kelly Dies Suddenly
Michael S. Kelly, 42, of Cranston, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, RI, he was the beloved husband of Natasha (Calcagni) Kelly and devoted father to Sofia Rae and Mila Jo Kelly. He was the son of Shawn and Cheryl (Grimes) Kelly of Warwick, RI, and son-in-law of Mirella (Mancini) Calcagni (Iyad Chahine) and the late Giuseppe Calcagni.
Michael dedicated his career to public service, working for the State of Rhode Island Department of Transportation as a highway maintenance operator. Prior to that, he spent many years as an account manager at North Eastern Tree Service, where he built strong relationships and a reputable career.
A true family man, Michael cherished every moment spent with his wife and daughters, often taking them on special daddy-daughter outings. His love for baseball and softball was a lifelong passion, allowing him to form a special brotherhood with teammates and friends.
A graduate of Cranston High School East, Class of 2001, Michael went on to briefly serve in the United States Navy SEAL Teams in Japan. He was known for his contagious laughter, great sense of humor, and love for video games, movies, and vacations with his family. Above all, he found the greatest joy in being at home with his loved ones.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Michael is survived by his two sisters, Tina Mello and Alicia Blanchette, as well as his brothers-in-law, Wesley Mello, Jay Blanchette, and Massimo Calcagni and his wife Katlyn (Esposito) Calcagni. He also leaves behind three nieces and five nephews whom he loved dearly. Michael was the grandson of Fran Kelly of Coventry and the late John W. Kelly Sr., as well as Paul and Shirley Grimes. He leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever cherish his memory.
