The Village of Glenview and the Glenview Police Department are mourning the sudden and tragic passing of Officer Robert Fryc, who died in a car accident early Sunday morning in Barrington while on his way into work. His untimely death has left the department, his colleagues, and the entire Glenview community in shock and deep sorrow.
Officer Fryc, 43, had been a dedicated member of the Glenview Police Department since 2007. Over the course of his 17-year career, he built a reputation as a committed and selfless public servant, always putting the safety and well-being of the community first.
He was recently recognized at the Village’s February 4 Board of Trustees meeting for his heroism last summer when he played a vital role in saving the life of a fellow officer. His actions that day exemplified his dedication to his duty and his unwavering support for his colleagues.

Village President Michael Jenny also expressed his deep sorrow over the loss. “We are devastated by the tragic loss of Officer Fryc, who just two weeks ago we recognized for his service and dedication to Glenview,” Jenny stated.
“On behalf of the entire Village, I extend our deepest condolences to Officer Fryc’s family, friends, and fellow officers. When the time is right, we will come together as a community to honor and remember his service.”
The circumstances surrounding the accident that claimed Officer Fryc’s life are currently under investigation. The Barrington Police Department and the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County are leading the inquiry to determine the exact cause of the crash.
